Aaaaand Canberra’s back to winter temperatures. Damn you, false spring! Every year, you trick me.
As always, if you’re enjoying Solidaritas, paid subscriptions are available for US$5/month or much much cheaper at US$40/year. Have a lovely weekend!

Watch and listen
I love that 13% of you clicked on last week’s video of the flooded street being unclogged.
I’ve had this Longform interview with food writer Helen Rosner on my to-listen list for months, and finally got around to it yesterday afternoon while on a walk. I’m glad I did, because I love the way she talks about food writing (“everyone eats”), personal essays (“exploitative”), and being emotional.
Splice Media’s Beta conference is going on right now and there are approximately 50 sessions I want to watch, but how to pitch donors in a pandemic was my first point of call.
Eat
Aloo bindi subji (pan-fried okra and potatoes with sesame seeds) from Meera Sodha’s Fresh India, which remains one of my favourite cookbooks of recent years.
Also, a drink recommendation! Canberra’s Big River Distilling Co has put out a fig gin using their cinnamon gin as a base. It’s only 24% alcohol so they even recommend drinking it neat with ice.
